At NorthThompson Driving School we offer a variety of courses to suit your needs offering a one stop Cost for the Class 1 Truck Driver Long Program, which includes 20 hour Air Brake course and assessment, written knowledge test fee, 74 hours truck driver training plus ICBC 2 hour Class 1 driver road test fee.  All of our courses
are One on One with the instructor, you get to drive the very first day out.  Our training is all in and around the truck, hands on training, in a quiet town.

arge (free) accommodations for out of town students.  For our students we have a comfortable two bedroom basement suite in a quiet part of town close to all amenities, fully furnished.

#1
The Class 1 Truck Dr
iver Long Program gives students 76 hours of truck driving experience, where the student will learn all the various aspects of truck driving that he/she will need to know to become a competent and safe truck driver.  This includes performing a complete pre-trip inspection, proper shifting and grade shifting techniques, vehicle handling, collision avoidance, chain up and brake check.  Also included in the truck driver long program is the 20 hour Air Brake theory and assessment  and the 2 hour Class 1 driver road test.  Students will receive practical, hands on training by an instructor licensed with the Motor Vehicle Act.    The course + Air gives you a 96 hour course.  Course length, approximately 1 month. A valid Class 1 learners permit is required for this course.  Free Accommodations.

udes one on one instruction driving on a variety of roadways, such as mountain, highway and city driving.  Ensuring the student to be well prepared to take the Class 1 driver road test.

Class 1 truck dr
iver Medium Program.  Gives you enough hours in the truck to qualify to apply to the companies that we have job placement with.  A total of 62 hours.  Focusing on mountain driving, pre-trip and other important driving aspects.  This course includes ICBC Class 1 driver road test fee, (free) accommodations for out of town students.  Air Brake endorsement can be obtained at the same time for an additional $170. course length approximately 3 weeks.  A valid Class 1 learners permit is required to take this course.

The Class 1 truck d
river Short Program or the Class 3 program gives the student 32 hours of truck driving experience.  Focusing on mountain driving, pre-trip and other important driving aspects. (Free) accommodations for out of town students.  Air Brake endorsement can be obtained at the same time for an additional $170. course length, approximately 2 weeks.  This course is not for the novice driver it is geared for those who already have their Class 3 license and would like to upgrade to a Class 1 or have been driving off road.  A valid Class 1 learners permit or Class 3 learners permit is required prior to the course selected.

rake endorsement. We run Air Brake courses once a month call for our next dates.

At the end of all courses the student will receive certificates for license class and/or air brake.

Lynn Kenyon owner of NorthThompson Driving School began her career as an over the road operator in November 1999.  She and husband Don drove as a team throughtout the states and Canada.  Lynn took her instructor course in Vancouver.  Between the two of them they have 50 years of safe truck driving experience.
Don Lee has over 40 years of accident free driving experience.  He began driving truck at 16 and has driven gravel trucks with pups, lowbeds, grain trucks, flat deck, log trucks, B-train & A-train as well as heavy equipment.  Don took his Instructor training in Vancouver and taught for a couple of companies before Lynn started up their school.  He also took the Instructor training for Air Brake, the following year NorthThompson Driving School became a facility for Air Brake Assessment.  Don and Lynn have an easy relaxed teaching method, making students comfortable from the sta
